Sargent & Lundy provides engineering services for the full-scale design of both combustion and post-combustion technologies on a full range of coal- and gas-fired power plants.

Combustion

We're experienced with all applicable combustion technologies to reduce NOx emissions for specific fuels and furnace designs. These include:

  • First-generation and second-generation low NOx burners (LNB)
  • Overfire-air-injection systems
  • Flue gas recirculation systems
  • All types of reburning (coal and gas) technologies
  • Process optimization software
  • Combinations of these technologies

Post Combustion

We also have extensive experience providing engineering services for the full-scale design of post-combustion technologies, including selective catalytic and non-catalytic reduction (SCR and SNCR). We have been awarded detailed conceptual designs for more than 200 SCR retrofits, the majority of which are on large coal-fired utility plants. We are very familiar with the respective suppliers, their strengths and differences, cost of materials, and manufacturing schedules.
